Dapenkeng (Tapengkeng) Culture

Along the two narrow walls of the Time Bridge extending towards Guanyin Mountain, you can see the location of the National Dapenkeng (Tapengkeng) Archaeological Site. Dapenkeng Culture is the earliest Neolithic culture found in northern Taiwan from the early Neolithic period and has the following three characteristics:



1. The characteristic of the pottery is the impressed thick cord marks that cover the surface. Therefore, Dapenkeng Culture is known as Corded Ware Culture (coarse cord-mark).

2. The number of unearthed stone tools is small with limited variety. Most of them are polished stone tools including chipped and polished stone axes as well net sinkers.

3. The emergence of agriculture.



大坌坑文化



沿著時光走廊的兩道窄牆沿伸往觀音山方向可以看到國定大坌坑考古遺址所在的位置。大坌坑文化是目前被發現北臺灣新石器時代最早的文化，屬於新石器早期。大坌坑文化有三個特色：



1.陶器特色為表面佈滿拍打的粗繩紋，所以大坌坑又稱粗繩紋文化。



2.出土的石器數量不多，種類也少，大部分都為磨製過後的石器，種類有打製石斧、磨製石斧、網墜等。



3.農業的出現。
