Anthropomorphic Jar
This "wide mouthed, thin necked, simple handled, loop shoulder girdled, round based jar" also known as the "Anthropomorphic Jar" is one of the most distinctive artifacts unearthed at the Shihsanhang site. Besides the vividly portrayed human face on the main body of the jar, the decorative patterns are a clear indication of the refined pottery making skills and exceptional creativity of the prehistoric residents of Shihsanhang. As the one and only of its type in Taiwan, the Anthropomorphic Jar was recognized as an important antiquity by the Ministry of Culture in 2009.
